Laborers: Governor's Budget "A Sure-Fire Boost to the Economy That Will Help Working Families Throughout the State."
LIUNA Vice President, Midwest Regional Manager and Assistant to the General President Edward M. Smith this week applauded Governor Rod Blagojevich’s 2009 Budget, calling it "a sure-fire boost to the economy that will help working families throughout the state."
Smith pointed to Illinois Works, a $25 billion capital plan, as an example of the economic stimulus that
the state needs right now. "With this plan, everybody is a winner," said Smith, "It helps our economy by
supporting more than 700,000 jobs, and it helps all of Illinois by making our roads and bridges safe and
by rebuilding our crumbling schools."
